As much as we’d love to make this list longer, we’ll save it for another time. Let’s now talk about the sports anime that’s been released this year.
Blue Lock, Season One, Part 2
Since its first episode aired in October 2022, this anime series, which began as a manga series in 2018 (and is still ongoing), has garnered a lot of favorable reviews. Yoichi Isagi, a high school student with a love for soccer and the desire to be the game’s most arrogant attacker, is the main character of the novel. To do that, he joined the Blue Lock Project, a training regimen directed by the cold-hearted coach Ego Jinpachi who is on a quest to lead the Japanese soccer team to victory.
On December 24, 2022, the anime’s first season came to a conclusion. It took a little break before continuing Yoichi’s narrative. Its second installment aired on January 7, 2023, which excited the fans who had been waiting.
As far as we know, Blue Lock is currently on Netflix; however, it’s also available on Crunchyroll.
Mou Ippon! Season One
On January 9, 2023, an anime version of a Yu Muraoka manga that debuted in 2018 and has 21 volumes thus far was released. He was motivated to sign up after visiting the Kazemai High School archery club. For a chance to win the prefectural competition, all club members collaborate and give it their all.
Its second season and the animated film debuted on January 4, 2022. You can watch this series on HiDive and Crunchyroll.
Birdie Wing: Golf Girls’ Story, Season Two
Birdie Wing’s second season, which followed the first, debuted on April 6, 2022, and ran until June 29, 2022. But what is the plot of the anime? It centers on a female lead character named Eve who exploits her outstanding golf talents to make a fortune by betting on and defeating different opponents. Nevertheless, she competes against Aoi Amawashi, a golfing prodigy, in their match. They agreed to fight each other again someday after their contest.
Even though Birdie Wing is about golf, there is a minor amount of illegal activity because mafias are involved and gamble on opposing golfers.
