Friedman’s Home Improvement is a great example of how our client relationships have evolved along with our business. In the beginning, we provided digital services only to the family business. Friedman’s is the only big box competitor and national home improvement brand with four locations in Sonoma County. The more our SEO efforts took hold, the more we realized that we needed a new website. In the end, however, the website project led us away from being 100% digital and now, while we continue to develop a strategy and design for a robust online presence, our primary focus is branding and marketing.

Friedman’s Home Improvement, a prominent local home improvement chain, hired Zenergy Works as a joint venture in 2009.  Both Search Engine Optimization and Social Media Optimization were required.  The marketing team and I quickly realized that to meet the long-term goals of this client, we would need to include Pay Per Click Management, Email Marketing, Web Redesign, Blog creation and management, and Online Display Optimization and Management.  We have helped Friedman’s Home Improvement achieve transparency in the process and improved their understanding of how the web works and how it can serve their long-term advertising needs.

Friedman’s getting the ‘Most Good Award’

Friedman’s Home Improvement has contributed to the daily operations of the Petaluma TSA in numerous ways, including providing food for 400 families each week. Besides supporting the youth and counseling programs that are carried out on the Petaluma TSA campus by Petaluma Peoples Services and Mentor Me, she has donated thousands of dollars in building materials to the Petaluma TSA over the past four years. These donations have proven vital to the ongoing expansion of the services that the Petaluma TSA offers to those in need in the community.

Major Clement discussed the current programs and changes at Petaluma Corps, as well as future plans for programs such as “After School Youth Services” for elementary through high school students. There are programs that help homeless high school students with homework, youth activities, and family counseling. In recognition of their outstanding leadership and service to the community, the Friedman’s received the “Doing the Most Good Award” at the end of the community tour.

As a token of appreciation, the TSA, board members, and volunteers of the Petaluma Corps would like to thank you. In 1956, when Friedman Bros. opened in Petaluma, Billy Friedman shared how his father Benny Friedman began giving back to the community. During the holidays, Benny would ring the bell at a kettle for the TSA. His son, Barry Friedman, continues the tradition of giving back to the community.

Friedman’s Home Improvement Excellence Facility Design

  • As soon as you enter the 83,000-square-foot store, you’re greeted by a welcome desk – dubbed the Information Hub, staffed with people who can answer questions, suggest solutions, and refer you to one of 20 departments.
  • In the Information Hub, two wide “power aisles” intersect to make navigation easy and provide space for special offers.
  • A staircase leads to a 5,000-square-foot mezzanine housing the Design Center for Kitchens and Baths adjacent to the Information Hub.
  • A few places-such as power tools-where the two departments overlap are carefully designed to minimize interaction between pros and retail customers.
  • One of the dual spaces is the Express Yard display, which enables customers inside the store to see which of hundreds of building products are available outside, then order them and pick them up through the back door. You can either pay first or load first at Friedman’s.
  • An express yard for commodities is located behind the store on the 10.5-acre lot. Professionals have a separate entrance where they can easily access their sales reps.
  • It is clear from Friedman’s extra touches that this is not your typical big box. There are two enormous plant walls flanking the main entrance and two smaller ones at the nursery, all in homage to the same Northern California mindset that mandates a charging station for electric vehicles.
  • The facade’s five 20-by-40-foot windows feature images of home improvements in progress.
  • The 60-foot-by-60-foot mural inside the main entrance depicts the local hills of Sonoma County.
